Hecate Enthroned – Embrace Of The Godless Aeon Review

Well it’s been 5 years but one of the UK underground’s longest-running and most respected acts, HECATE ENTHRONED return with their new album Embrace of the Godless Aeon under M-Theory Audio & also their first with Vocalist Joe Stamps

The album start’s off with the hauntingly Candyman – esque Instrumental “Ascension” Thundering scornfully into “Revelations in Autumn Flame” onto the track that has an accompanying video “ Temples That Breathe” the familiar tones of Sarah Jezebel Deva appear for the first time on “Goddess of Dark Misfits” SJD does make two more appearances on the album but not only is this my favourite track of the three it’s my favourite track of the entire album (I’ve listened to it a fair bit already)

After the onslaught, the album takes a slower direction with “Whispers of the Mountain Ossuary” All the tracks so far have been under 5 minutes but this sees the first of a few longer than 7 minutes which personally I’m more preferable to when Black Metal is done this well.

Enthralment” flows into another 7+ minute epic “The Shuddering Giant” following by the haunting swirling mist of “Silent Conversations With Distant Stars” lastly the slowest & longest track on the album “Erebus and Terror” – something that you could easily imagine on a Hellraiser movie soundtrack.

The band were definitely in safe hands as this was co-produced by Dan Abela (Voices, The Antichrist Imperium) Embrace of the Godless Aeon has Epic and sweeping orchestrations, heavy aggressive riffing, and the right balance of harmonies with a brutal vocal delivery

Highlight tracks for me: Whispers of the Mountain Ossuary, The Shuddering Giant

4.5 out of 5 skulls

Embrace of the Godless Aeon is out on January 25th & can be pre ordered here
